PROJECT BIRTH

Jewish community of Ulyanovsk already exists for more than 25 years. During this period, the number of participants has continuously grown, and now we are a large organization with highly developed infrastructure. We have become the centre of Russian Jewish Youth Congress which has representative offices in 50 regions of Russia. Chesed and volunteer services take care of approximately 700 elders.

Thanks to significant efforts we have managed to organize Sunday school and club for Jewish youth, open a new sinagogye, start regular Hebrew lessons, film screenings, Judaism studies. There is also a kosher kitchen, social care service and creative studio. Also we have found a small library of Jewish books about our tradition and culture. Such a big set of activies simply does not fit into a small footage of an old building. There is no place to hold congresses of Jewish youth, and the sinagogye located in a room does not provide space for everyone (sometimes people simply have to pray outside). All of these factors motivated us in the beginning, and a lot of things were done. We have had a territory in the city centre and cleaned it, as well as performed geological-engineering prospecting. On Aug, 26, 2014 a capsule for future generations was placed inside a building space.

During the last five years a team of like-minded people has performed corrections, thought about the inside and outside parts of building and planned changes. Asking for advice from the whole Jewish world, we have received a generous feedback and support. Thanks to our common efforts, the project of Jewish Cultural Centre has been approved, it is completely transparent and open to anyone via this website. With your support, we will complete the new building and provide the necessary free space for all departments. For Jews in Ulyanovsk a new sinagogye will hold more than 150 people. There will be mikva, study classes, interactive museum, conference halls for congresses and multinational dialogue. All visitors will be served in a charify dsining room with kosher kitchen. Future generations (children and youth) will get fitness centre, interactive museum and creative studios at their disposal.

We are members of the board of trustees. The Jews who assumed obligations and responsibility to help a community, to support her. Speaking to “community”, I mean our old men and children, youth and young families. And sees those to whom it is now heavy also those who is lonely in a community of the only friends and a family.
